The Urban Air Mobility Vehicles of CES 2020
The global stage of CES has expanded its featured technology to showcase a new wave of vehicles and services that all seek to revolutionize modern transportation. But this year at CES 2020, these eye-catching machines were not the only thing top of mind. The conversion of aircraft operations with the city or community they'll serve is just as important as aircraft functionality. The conversation around the seamless integration of urban air mobility grew stronger as consumers really started to understand what this future will look like. This important discussion is explained on Engineering.com's show recap.
"The urban air mobility demonstrations at CES 2020 showcase the promising growth of the sector but significant hurdles still need to be cleared before flying taxis become a part of everyday life. The FAA has not formalized regulations for certificating eVTOL aircraft or rules for inner city autonomous flights—a regulatory structure that vehicle makers like Hyundai and Bell will rely on to finalize their designs."
CNET met with Bell Vice President of Innovation Scott Drennan to discuss the added vehicle features that will help the consumer feel comfortable enough to take the ride - a critical need for mass consumer adoption.
