Bell has supported Amarillo College and its Kids’ College by hosting an educational summer activity, Flight Camp, for many years. In July, Bell invited 30 middle school students to the Amarillo Aircraft Assembly Center, continuing the company’s commitment to supporting local communities and inspiring the next generation of aviation leaders.
Bell’s Flight Camp provides middle school students the opportunity to learn about Bell and future career opportunities in the industry – and see really cool things! Students learned about the forces of flight, engineering disciplines, manufacturing techniques and more. The students were invited to tour the Texas Air and Space Museum and Bell’s Amarillo Aircraft Assembly Center - home to the assembly and final delivery of many military aircraft, including the Bell V-22s and H-1s.
Bell is committed to developing the future workforce and contributing to Amarillo through education and community. “Thank you to each and every one of our parents, campers, interns, volunteers and teachers for helping this camp have another successful year of operation. We look forward to hosting many future camps and inspire future innovators in Amarillo,” said Sonja Clark, Amarillo Site Lead. “Our camp is designed to spark curiosity and inspire students to pursue careers that will shape the future of flight.”
Amarillo College was integral in developing Bell’s workforce in the early 2000s and will continue to support future workforce growth. “Together we are creating a program that not only enriches our students, but also strengthens the relationship between industry and education,” said Tiffany Van Burren, Amarillo College’s Kids College Coordinator. “This partnership helps fuel workforce development, keep opportunities local and shows our community’s youth they have a place in shaping the future in Amarillo.”
