The next morning 1Lt Albin and crew took off as the lead aircraft before sunrise and pressed southbound on the first mission to the Gulfport-Biloxi Regional Airport. Upon arrival, the airport was in shambles and there was no operating air traffic control.
Immediately after landing, they walked over to a nearby military tent they had noticed, and were pleased to find out that it was the command and control element that prioritized and assigned incoming rescue requests. An Army Colonel handed them a piece of paper with handwritten coordinates to where an immediate medevac of cardiac patient was needed in Kiln, MS.
